Soya and Pea Pilaf

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pearl pishori rice
  • ½ cup soya bean granules
  • 1 cup shelled green peas
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion – chopped fine
  • 1 tsp ginger paste. 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 2 black cardamoms (moti illaichi)
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic (laung),
  • 1 stick cinnamon (dilchini)
  • 1 bay leaf (tej patta)
  • 2 tsp salt or to taste,
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp salt or to taste,
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp raisins (kishmish) – soaked in water and drained

Method

Boil soya granules in water for 5 minutes. Keep aside in hot water.

Heat 4 tbsp oil. Add onions, cinnamon, bay leaves, cloves and lack cardamoms. Fry till onions turn brown.

Add ginger and garlic paste. Fry for 1 minute.

Drain soya. Add drained soya granules and peas to browned onions. Add garam masala. Fry for 3-4 minutes.

Add washed pearl pishori rice. Fry for 1 minute. Add raisins. Mix

Add 2 cups water and salt. Boil.

Lower heat and cover. Cook for 12-15 minutes till all the water is absorbed and pearl pishori rice is cooked.
